Steve is a Long Island native and replaced Jeff Green in the Busch series in 1997. He came from the Modified Divison where in three seasons he captured 10 poles, seven wins and two second place finishes. He was also
named The Most Valuable Driver.

He likes to tell the story of how Dale had to call him twice before he believed he was going to drive for him. Dale called and left messages on the answering machine. Dale sent a plane to get him and the rest is history.
